It would help to know more specifically *when* the conference would be scheduled. My ability to travel without paying “too high a price” depends on my wife’s ability to come along. ;) July is good, but June and August are bad.

It’s too early to tell. We’re just in the initial planning stages. It might not be in Canada at all. The Germans might organise it instead.
